Academic Enrichment is one of our pillars of care. Augustine Literacy Project (ALP) is one of our key literacy partners. ALP Charlotte is a nonprofit organization committed to improving the reading proficiency of students facing economic barriers. Through structured literacy tutoring, children are empowered with the skills needed to become confident, independent readers. PURPOSE OF POSITION:

We are seeking a dedicated Literacy Specialist to join our team for a program aimed at expanding literacy support for students in need. This role requires high-impact engagement with students, focusing on structured literacy interventions. The typical schedule is 20-hours per week (4 hours per day, Monday – Friday) during the school year.


KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Establish strong relationships with school contacts and collaborate to advance students’ progress, identify and resolve challenges, and develop instructional strategies. 

  • Provide structured, research-based literacy instruction to students in alignment with ALP Charlotte’s mission. 

  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to maintain a supportive and focused learning environment. 

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  • Prior classroom management experience is preferred. 

  • Strong background in literacy instruction, tutoring, or education. 

  • Commitment to equity in education and serving students from diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the ALP Charlotte team.​
